I-TYRE Importers Association of South Africa (Tiasa) isihlabe ikhwelo kuhulumeni ukuthi asibuyekeze isinqumo se-International Trade Administration Commission (Itac) sokwenyusa intela yamathayi alandwa eChina.
NgoLwesine, i-Itac imemezele ukwengezwa kwentela ngo-38.33% kumathayi avela eChina engena kwintela evele ikhona ephakathi kuka-25% no-30%.
Osomatekisi sebekhokha imali engaphezulu ngo-23% ukuthenga amathayi, abamaloli bazokhokha u-22% kuthi ezimotweni ezincane intela ikhuphuke ngo-21 kuya ku-25%.
ITiasa ithe lokhu kuzozwela kakhulu kubagibeli nakubathengi ngoba kuzonyusa izindleko zokuthutha. Ithe lesi sinqumo kumele sihoxiswe ngokushesha.
“I-Tiasa inxusa uhulumeni ukuthi ayihoxise le ntela. Zikhona izinqumo ezenziwa wuhulumeni phambili ezizuzise abantu baseNingizimu Afrika. Ekuqaleni konyaka, uhulumeni ukwazile ukugwinya ukunyuka kwentengo kaphethroli konga abathengi namabhizinisi,” kusho uSihlalo weTiasa, uCharl de Villiers.
Uthe lezi zinqumo nezinye zikhombisa ukuthi uhulumeni uzimisele ukuthatha izinqumo ezinzima ukuze kuhlomule abantu.
Izinkampani ezikhiqiza amathayi kuleli iContinental, Bridgestone, Goodyear neSumitomo okuthi uma zihlangene zaziwe ngeSouth African Tyre Manufacturers Conference (Satmc), zafaka isicelo kwi-Itac ukuthi kunyuswe intela kumathayi ezimoto ezincane, amatekisi, amabhasi namaloli alandwa eChina.
“Akukho nzima ukubona ukuthi umthelela uzoba mubi kangakanani kubathengi. Okwenza kube nzima ukuqonda ukuthi lesi simemezelo siza ngesikhathi uhulumeni esakhuluma indaba yokuba nendlela yokusiza abantu baseNingizimu Afrika, bakwazi ukumelana nokunyuka kwezindleko zokuphila,” kusho uDe Villiers.
Esithangamini nabezindaba ngoJulayi, okhulumela iNational Taxi Alliance, uTheo Malele, wathi lokhu kuzoyishaya kakhulu imboni yamatekisi.
“Kuzomele sidlulise lezi zindleko kubagibeli vele ngeke bakwazi ukumelana nazo. Manje bakhokha u-55% wemiholo yabo ekubeni ngabe bakhokha ngaphansi kuka-10% ngezithuthi zomphakathi,” kusho uMalele.
