OGAQELE isikhundla sokuhola iKwaZulu-Natal Athletics (KZNA), uMandla Mngomezulu, ukubeke eqhulwini ukuvuselela nokuthuthukiswa kwemijaho yasemalokishini nasemakhaya eminye yayo esiyafadalala, ukuvikeleka kwabagijimi besifazane nokwenyusa izinga lezokugijima ezikoleni.
UMngomezulu oyiphini likamengameli we-KZNA obethula umqulu wakhe wamaphuzu ayisishiyagalombili wokungenela ukhetho eMax’s Lifestyle eMlaza, izolo, uphakathi kwezikhulu ezigaqele isikhundla sokuhola le nhlangano yezokugijima esifundazweni njengoba kubhekwe okhethweni oseluseMome lokukhetha ubuholi obusha.
Kulolu khetho oluzokuba ngoJuni 14, uMngomezulu uzodlana imilala noSteve Mkasi okunguyena ophethe esokuba ngumengameli we-KZNA, uSello Mokoena noChristopher White.

“Uma ngingathatha isikhundla sokuhola i-KZNA, phakathi kwezinto eziseqhulwini engizibophezela ukuzenza ukwenza isiqiniseko sokuthi iyabuyisawa ithuthukiswe imijaho yasemalokishini esasinayo phambilini, okubalwa kuyona oChesterville 10km, KwaMashu 10km, Edendale 10km, Township To Township Marathon (eyayigijinywa phakathi koMashu, Chesterville noMlazi).
Kanjalo nemijaho yasemakhaya enjengeZululand Marathon, Dumbe nakoMadadeni, eNewcastle, okuyimijaho eyayinika abagijimi basemakhaya nasemalokishini ithuba elihle lokuveza ikhono labo.

"Bese kuzoba ukuvikeleka kwabagijimi besifazane nokuthuthukiswa kwabo ikakhulukazi ekubaqeqesheni ukuze sibe nabaqeqeshi abaningi besifazane abangabaqeqeshi babagijimi, njengoba sisephansi kakhulu isibalo sabo,” kuqhuba uMngomezulu.
“Nakhona ezikoleni kumqoka kakhulu lenyuswe izinga lezokugijima, kube khona nemifundazwe esizoyinikeza abafundi abenza kahle ezifundweni nasekugijimeni. Kungagcini lapho, silwele nokuthi imiqhudelwano yezokugijima kulesi sifundazwe ibe nemiklomelo ebhekile ehlonyulwa ngabagijimi, kwazise izimpahla abazisebenzisayo ukuziqeqesha ziyabiza futhi abanye baziphilisa ngakho ukugijima.”
Ukhetho lwe-KZNA luzolandela umjaho omkhulukazi iComrades Marathon webanga lika-89.98km ozobe wehla kusukwa eMgungundlovu kubhekwe eThekwini, ngoJuni 8.
